How many questions are on the ParaPro test?
The ParaPro Assessment (test code 1755) has 90 selected-response (multiple-choice) questions and takes 150 minutes (2 ½ hours). It is taken on a computer at a test center or at home with a remote proctor, and all questions are in English.
| Area | Real ParaPro | Per MyLevel test |
|---|---|---|
| Reading | 30 questions (33%) | 20 |
| Mathematics | 30 questions (33%) | 20 |
| Writing | 30 questions (33%) | 20 |
| Total | 90 in 150 minutes | 60 in 100 minutes |
In each area, about two-thirds of the questions test basic skills and knowledge and about one-third test applying those skills in a classroom, for example helping a student sound out a word or spot a math mistake. Source: ETS, ParaPro test overview and Study Companion (1755), checked 17 October 2026.
Each MyLevel test is shorter than the real exam: 60 questions with the real pace of 100 seconds per question, so 100 minutes, in the same three areas and the same two-thirds/one-third split.
What is on the ParaPro Assessment?
- Reading: main idea and supporting details, how a text is organized, word meaning from context, inferences, fact and opinion, and reading tables and graphs. Classroom questions cover phonics, word parts (prefixes, suffixes, roots), syllables, synonyms, antonyms and homophones, alphabetizing and dictionary use, pre-reading strategies and checking a student's comprehension.
- Mathematics: number sense and basic algebra (operations, place value, percentages, exponents, order of operations, estimation, equations, number patterns), geometry and measurement (time and unit conversions, shapes, perimeter, area and volume, the coordinate grid) and data analysis (tables, charts, graphs, mean, median and mode), plus applying them in the classroom.
- Writing: grammar, usage, punctuation, sentence parts, parts of speech and spelling. Classroom questions cover the writing process (prewriting, drafting, revising, editing), reference materials, and writing for different purposes and audiences.
No calculator is allowed unless ETS states that a test permits one, and ParaPro is not listed, so practice the math by hand.
What score do you need to pass the ParaPro?
There is no national ParaPro passing score. ETS does not set it: each state or agency sets its own qualifying score, and some leave it to the school district. Look up the score for your state on the ETS ParaPro passing score page, or ask the district that is hiring.
ETS lists a fee of $85 for the ParaPro (1755); check the ParaPro information bulletin for the current fee where you test. Unofficial scores are shown on screen at the end of the test, and official scores follow about one week later.
MyLevel shows indicative score bands, not a pass or fail: aim for 70% or more on the practice tests, and 85% or more for a comfortable margin.

Frequently asked questions
Is this ParaPro practice test free?
Yes, you can start with 5 free questions in reading, math and writing, each with an explanation. Two full 60-question timed tests cost $9.99 once, with no subscription.
How many questions are on the ParaPro test?
The ParaPro Assessment (1755) has 90 multiple-choice questions in 150 minutes: 30 reading, 30 math and 30 writing. About two-thirds test basic skills and about one-third test applying those skills in a classroom (ETS).
What is a passing score on the ParaPro?
ETS does not set a passing score. Each state or agency sets its own qualifying score, and some leave it to the school district, so check the ETS passing score page for your state or ask the district that is hiring.
Is the ParaPro test hard?
It covers basic reading, math and writing skills, but there are 90 questions in 2 ½ hours and no calculator, so the math has to be done by hand. Practicing under time and reviewing the classroom-application questions helps most.
Are these the real ParaPro questions?
No. These are original practice questions written by MyLevel in the style and content areas of the ParaPro Assessment. Real test questions are confidential, and MyLevel is not affiliated with ETS.
Can I unlock only this test?
There is one option, so you never have to choose: the $9.99 job pack, one time. It unlocks the 2 full tests on this page and every other MyLevel job test, with no subscription and a full refund within 14 days if it does not help you.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. After a full practice test you can download a MyLevel practice certificate (PDF) with your score. It is a personal record of your practice result, not an official document or ParaPro score.
